Position Summary Information

Position Description:

The ND EPSCoR Business Manager will oversee and be responsible for all financial transactions [both state and federal dollars] and related reporting requirements for ND EPSCoR.

The purpose of this position is to:
1. Assist the State Director/Project Administrator in carrying out the mission and goals of developing and building research infrastructure at the two North Dakota Research universities, other ND university system institutions, and five tribal colleges located in ND.
2. Coordinate the financial component implementation of program initiatives.
3. Provide coordination of ND EPSCoR financial activities with the full spectrum of ND EPSCoR clients; including: PIs, students, businesses, steering and advisory committee members, program review committee members, consultants, etc.
4. Oversee ND EPSCoR budgets at all participating institutions to ensure that funds are managed in accordance with federal and state management requirements.
5. Oversee collections and compilation of data for reporting purposes.
6. Supervise the program coordinator and the project assistant.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with five years of related work experience
• Three years supervisory experience
• Experience directing financial, human resource, purchasing, and related operations, including development of supporting administrative systems, for agency funded research programs
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, use judgment, assess administrative needs, assess financial needs, develop, implement, and manage solutions
• Ability to develop good working relations and communicate effectively with industry, government officials, faculty, staff and students
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Work, PowerPoint and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field
• Advanced degree (i.e., MBA, MS in an accounting/finance field)
• Financial administration of a federal sponsored awards
• Familiarity with the setting and operations of a university research entity
• Experience using ND University ConnectND (sponsored award management and finance)
