Position Summary Information

Position Description:

The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department invites applications for one or more full-time, Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure Track) positions with an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2018. These positions will be 40 percent research, 40 percent teaching, and 20 percent service. Responsibilities will include supporting NDSU’s land-grant mission of research, teaching, and service. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of externally funded research in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and produce an excellent record of scholarly publication; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise MS and PhD theses; and provide service to the university and its units, to the state and regional community, as well as to the appropriate professional organizations. While all areas of industrial engineering will be considered, candidates with strength in mathematical programming and optimization, healthcare and biomedical engineering, quality and reliability engineering, or advanced manufacturing, are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates are required to have strong skills and research interests in one or more of the following areas: integer programming, stochastic programming, network optimization, advanced manufacturing (cyber manufacturing, automation/control, digital thread), statistical and probabilistic modeling, optimization, data analytics and big data integration (data fusion), data mining, bioinformatics, and big data in manufacturing. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in emerging research collaborations across campus on biomedical engineering and data analytics with applications in cyber-physical systems or large infrastructure systems.

The department has strong relationships with local companies, such as: John Deere, Bobcat/Doosan, Sanford Health, the local Veteran’s Administration, Microsoft, Case New Holland, as well as many other local companies.

Minimum Qualifications:

The applicants should:
- hold a Ph.D. or be expected to complete their degree in Industrial Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited university
- have at least one degree in Industrial Engineering
- have excellent speaking and writing skills
- have strong interest and potential to develop and conduct a sponsored research program
- have credentials to teach a variety of courses in Industrial Engineering, both at the undergraduate and graduate level
- have interest and ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues and students
